What is Pilates?Created by Joseph Pilates in the early part of the 20th century, Pilates was originally called Controllogy - the 'science' of body control and awareness. Pilates will give you the tools to connect with your body on a deeper level as you are taken through a series of controlled movements and breathing designed to lengthen, strengthen and centre your body. If you have poor posture, a bad back or indeed just want to get fitter and learn to relax, Pilates is for you.
-
Can Pilates help with back pain?Pilates may help people in many cases who suffer from chronic or recurring back/or shoulder pain and may also help to prevent injury. The key is that everyone is different so there's never any definitive answer. We treat people as individuals, the best thing to do is to try. In the case of disc problems, prolonged back pain or other diagnosed issues, we would always suggest consulting with your doctor first.
-
Is Pilates right for me?If you haven't done any exercise for a while, Pilates is a great way to get into the habit of moving again but safely. The controlled Pilates movements are also ideal for anyone who is recovering from an injury such as back pain, or rehabilitating after an injury. As Pilates focuses on your Core muscles, there is a much-reduced chance of injury and as such, this makes it ideal for anyone who may consider themselves as being at risk. Pilates is also ideal for anyone who is training for virtually any sport, as it encourages a deeper understanding of your own body by focusing on body awareness.

-
How much does it cost? We're determined to remove the high price burden of practising Pilates. Unlike some who charge a flat fee per term, we offer Subscription credits that can be used as and when you choose, so if you don't come, we don't charge you. Our fees are also checked against local competitors and we guarantee they're the cheapest at the time of publishing, so you can trust us to offer the best value for money in your area.
-
Do I need to bring my own mat?We aim to supply as much of the equipment as possible - we even have spare mats, so if you don't have one just let us know and we can bring one along for you.
-
Is Pilates fun?We at TriFit believe all exercise should be fun. Fun is a key component of what makes us different from any other Pilates you may have tried in the past. Our classes are inclusive and run as an interactive experience where everyone gets on and friends can be made who will support you in your Pilates journey.
-
Do you offer any discounts? We offer a discounted rate for anyone aged 60 or over, this takes class fees down to just over £7 each, making us the best value Pilates around.
-
How often do I need to practice Pilates? We hold classes throughout the Hillingdon and Harrow areas, and our Subscription model means you can go to any class on any day. We would ideally suggest trying to fit in a couple of in-person classes a week but we also offer online sessions. Once you've gained a good level of experience, you can always go through a few simple movements at home, just to help fill the gap between sessions.
-
How busy are the classes? We always offer smaller boutique classes. Keeping classes small allows us to devote more time to each person, ensuring they're getting the very best out of their time with us every week. We don't instruct from the mat, instead, we walk around the group making sure everyone is safe and has understood each movement and what the benefits are for you as an individual.
-
How experienced is the instructor? We're a small local business and a husband-and-wife team. I've been teaching Pilates for approximately 15 years in and around the Harrow area of London. I'm also a Level 3 Personal Trainer and have qualifications in Pre and Post-Natal Exercise, Gym Instruction, Group Exercise and much more. We've recently moved to Hillingdon and are expanding to cover as much of the Hillingdon and Denham catchment area as we can, bringing quality Pilates designed for people who will truly benefit from Pilates at affordable prices.
